Due to resource challenges caused by the Omicron COVID-19 variant, performances of The Nutcracker between Tuesday 21 December 2021 and Monday 3 January 2022 (inclusive) were cancelled. Ticket bookers for all affected performances have been contacted by Box Office.
The Nutcracker has long been one of the most delightful ways to discover the enchantment of ballet and makes for a sparkling festive treat for the whole family. Tchaikovsky’s much-loved music is matched to a story of magic on Christmas Eve, and the journey of Clara and her Nutcracker to the Land of Sweets brings with it some of the most familiar of all ballet moments.
Peter Wright’s gorgeous production for The Royal Ballet keeps true to the spirit of this Russian ballet classic, and the many solo roles and ensembles show the world-class skills of the Company at its best.
I really love to watch ballet in cinema – an easy and efforttable way to attend a great ballet performance by the Royal Ballet in London or the Bolschoi Ballet in Moscow.

Das zeitgenössische Migros Kulturprozent Tanzfestival Steps findet vom 28. April bis 22. Mai 2022 in allen Landesteile der Schweiz statt. April 2022 mit der Uraufführung von «Wonderful World», der ersten Zusammenarbeit der Choreografen Kinsun Chan und Martin Zimmermann, in der Lokremise St. Gallen eröffnet.

As you all know 2021 has been a tough year for all ballet and dance lovers. Due to covid 19, a lot of live performances had to be cancelled or postponed. But at the end of the year I was lucky that live ballet came back to Zurich.

Wie tanzt man Liebe? Kann man auch ohne Musik Ballett tanzen? Wie wird man Prima Ballerina? Wo sind eigentlich die Choreografinnen? Ist das Ballett heute noch zeitgemäss? Fragen über Fragen über die Geheimnisse des Balletts. Bücher über die Geschichte und die Hintergründe des Balletts gibt es nicht so viele. Umso mehr habe ich mich auf das neue Buch der Tanzwissenschaftlerin Dorothee Gelhard gefreut.
Ein ästhetisch wunderschönes, mit viel Liebe illustriertes Buch, in dem die Künstlerin Camille Deschiens jede Kapitelnummer in zarten Farbbilder versteckte.
Christian Spucks erfolgreiche Komödie der Langeweile wird in ganz neuer Besetzung wieder im Dezember am Opernhaus Zürich gespielt. Warum jeder Ballettfan LEONCE und LENA sehen sollte? Die Satire von Georg Büchner auf die Gesellschaft im 19. Jahrhundert ist zeitlos und äusserst unterhaltsam.
A nice but very expensive option: Invite your ballet loving friend to join you for a live ballet performance and top of the evening with a nice glass of champagne. The Nutcracker or Swan Lake are perfect ballet choices to get you both in the Christmas mood.
