Am 20.1.2024 startet das Ballett Zürich mit dem dreiteiligen Ballettabend das neue Jahr. Wie immer vor einer grossen Premiere gibt es nur wenig Details und keine Fotos. Aber am Sonntag 14.1. um 11.15 spricht Dramaturg Michael Küster mit der australischen Choreografin Meryl Tankard und dem jungen südafrikanischen Choreografen Mthuthuzeli November in der Einführungsmatinee im Bernhard Theater. Auch dabei sind der Nijinska-Spezialist Christopher Saunders und Ballettdirektorin Cathy Marston.

Immer eine Reise wert!
Gerne möchte ich allen Fans des zeitgenössischen Tanzes einen Geheimtipp verraten. Das derzeitige Programm des Theaters Winterthur ist sensationell. Programmchef Thomas Guglielmetti lädt international angesagt Tanzcompanien ein und überrascht sein Publikum mit hochkarätigen Produktionen der globalen Tanzszene. Gerade wurde SONOMA von Marcos Morau und FALL, PURE, KAASH von Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui und Akram Khan aufgeführt. Beide Vorstellungen fand ich einmalig.

Gerade ist die Retrospektive, 50 Jahre nach John Crankos tragischem Tod, erschienen. Ein lesenswertes Buch für alle Ballettfans, die mehr über das Stuttgarter Ballettwunder in der Ära Cranko wissen möchten. Das Buch gibt einen ungeschönten Einblick in das Leben und Arbeiten des südafrikanischen Choreografen, der das Stuttgarter Ballett weltberühmt machte.
