I danced ballet as child, albeit with little success. Despite this, my passion for ballet and dance has carried into adulthood. I still love to watch ballet performances and would love to share my passion with you.

Wer bis dahin nicht warten möchte, kann auf ARTE einige spannende Ballettaufführungen sehen. Sehr zu empfehlen ist DORNRÖSCHEN vom Bolschoi-Ballett getanzt, mit der bezaubernden Starballerina Svetlana Zakharova in der Hauptrolle.

Prima ballerina, ballet master, With Staatsballett Berlin and Guest Teacher
I watched all the amazing youtube videos of Nadja Saidakova in June when I worked on preparing my interview with her. So many great ballet moments came up in my mind while remembering this outstanding prima ballerina dancing all the classical and contemporary leading parts with Staatsballett Berlin. As I loved them so much, I want to share them with all of you.
Her presentation was unforgettable as the tough Valkyries Brünnhilde in Maurice Béjart’s „RING UM DEN RING“, the lovely Tatjana in ONEGIN, her breathtaking Pas de Deux in “ IN THE MIDDLE OF SOMEWHAT ELEVATED“ and her romantic interpretation of a young girl in „LE SPECTRE OF THE ROSE“.
Not many ballet lovers know that these both ballets are not connected at all.
The DYING SWAN is a world-famous 4 minutes ballet choreographed by Mikhail Fokine to the music of Saint-Saens in 1905 for the great Prima Ballerina Anna Pavlova – premiered in St Petersburg in 1905. Anna Pavlova performed this ballet more than 4000 times and it became her signature ballet.

Nach ihrer äusserst erfolgreichen Karriere gibt die Prima Ballerina Nadja Saidakova ihr Wissen als Ballettmeisterin beim Staatsballett Berlin weiter. In unserem Interview erzählt sie über ihre tägliche Arbeit.
Seit Sommer 2017 bist Du Ballettmeisterin beim Staatsballett Berlin, nachdem Du Deine aktive Karriere als Prima Ballerina beendet hast. Viele Ballettliebhaber wissen nicht so genau, was eine Ballettmeisterin eigentlich macht. Beschreibe doch bitte Dein Tätigkeitsfeld und erzähle uns über Deine Tänzerkarriere.
Als Ballettmeisterin coache ist vor allem Tänzerinnen und Tänzer und studiere das Repertoire mit ihnen ein. Jeden Morgen gebe ich ein 1.5-stündiges Training zum Aufwärmen. Danach studiere ich bis zum Abends verschiedenste Ballette mit einzelnen Solisten oder auch Gruppen ein. Da wir momentan Corona bedingt 8 verschiedene Gruppen haben, die über den Tag verteilt individuell proben müssen, haben wir viel Mehrarbeit.
Meine herzlichen Glückwünsche an Cathy Marston, eine der international renommiertesten Choreografinnen, und an Christian Spuck, unseren überaus geschätzten Ballettdirektor in Zürich seit 2012, der ab 2023/24 die Intendanz des Berliner Staatsballetts übernehmen wird.
Auch wenn es sehr zu bedauern ist, dass Christian Spuck das Zürcher Ballett verlässt, freue ich mich schon jetzt auf viele Berlinbesuche, um die grösste Compagnie in Deutschland unter seiner Leitung zu bewundern. Mit über 90 Tänzerinnen und Tänzern kann er aus dem Vollen schöpfen. Was für eine fantastische Herausforderung für diesen äusserst kreativen Choreografen!

Following the Olivier award-winning success of her poignant Flight Pattern, the extraordinary imagination of Canadian choreographer Crystal Pite is demonstrated again in two works created for Nederlands Dans Theater and performed for the first time by The Royal Ballet. The shadowy depths of human nature and boardroom politics are explored in the riveting dance-drama of The Statement contrasted with an atmospheric evocation of winter in Solo Echo, inspired by a poem by Mark Strand and the melancholy beauty of Brahms’s sonatas for cello and piano.

Crystal Pite ist eine der gefragtesten Choreografinnen der Gegenwart. Die gebürtige Kanadierin tanzte im Ballet British Columbia und in William Forsythes Ballett Frankfurt. Seit ihrem professionellen Debüt als Choreografin 1990 beim Ballet British Columbia entstanden Stücke für über 40 renommierte Compagnien, u.a. für das Nederlands Dans Theater, das Ballett Frankfurt, das National Ballett Ballett of Canada, Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal (Choreographer in Residence, 2001-2004), das Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet, das Ballet British Columbia und das Royal Ballet, London. Sie ist Associate Choreographer des Nederlands Dans Theaters und Associate Dance Artist am Canada’s National Arts Center. 2013 wurde sie zum Associate Artist des Londoner Sadler’s Wells Theatre ernannt. 2002 gründete Crystal Pite in Vancouver ihre eigene Compagnie Kidd Pivot, die zu einem unverwechselbaren Stil gefunden hat. Klassische Tanzelemente verbinden sich mit einer komplexen improvisatorischen Freiheit und einer starken theatralischen Sensibilität voller Humor und Fantasie. Stücke wie Dark Matters und Lost Action waren international auf vielen Tourneen zu sehen. Im Künstlerhaus Mousonturm in Frankfurt/Main hatte die Compagnie von 2010-2012 eine Residenz, dort entstanden mit The You Show und The Tempest Replica zwei weitere international gefeierte Stücke. 2015 hatte Betroffenheit, eine Koproduktion mit dem Autor und Schauspieler Jonathon Young und dem Electric Company Theatre, Premiere.
