Mit diesem Stück stellte sich Christian Spuck 2012 dem Zürcher Publikum vor. Ab kommender Saison wird Christian Spuck als Direktor des Staatsballetts Berlin leiten. In THE CELLIST wird die tragisch-romantische Lebensgeschichte der Jahrhundertmusikerin Jacqueline du Pré erzählt. Die grosse Liebe zu ihrem Cello steht im Mittelpunkt. Eine Menage à Trois entsteht, als Daniel Barenboim die attraktive Ausnahmemusikerin kennen lernt. Die Ehe dauert 20 Jahre und endet mit dem Tod der an MS erkrankten Cellistin im Alter von 42 Jahren.
