Giselle at Teatro alla Scala

Spectacular Ballet performance!

Watching GISELLE at La Scala di Milano was always a dream of mine. The Ballet Company of Teatro alla Scala is one of the oldest and most renowned ballet companies in the world, founded at the inauguration in 1778.

I was lucky to see two of the world’s most glamorous Ballet Stars on stage Svetlana Zakharova, Prima Ballerina from Bolshoi in Moscow and Étoile of Teatro alla Scala, together with her elegant partner David Hallberg from the American Ballet Theatre. That is a very special treat for all ballet lovers.

I was completely blown away by the technical perfection, and outstanding grace, as well as great dramatic skill of this performance. It was a deeply moving, spiritual, and heart breaking experience. The chemistry of the Giselle and Albrecht was natural and intense – they seemed to be destined for each other.

The Audience

The La Scala audience members welcomed both ballet stars by applauding and also showed their appreciation for this stellar performance by a lot of mid-performance claps. The applause at the end wouldn´t stop. It took 20 minutes!

By the way I was totally astonished how much the ladies in the audience were dressed up. All of them showed their respect for the performers by wearing very chic dresses, the most amazing high heels and hand bags.

Music by Adolphe Adam, the choreography is by Coralli – Perrot in the performance by Yvette Chauviré; on the podium David Coleman; the scenes and costumes are those of Aleksandr Benois reworked by Angelo Sala and Cinzia Rosselli.

Getting tickets

The most convenient way to buy a ticket is to visit the theater’s official website and buy online directly. Usually, La Scala starts selling tickets three to four months ahead of each performance. You will find the date online when the ticket sales begin. I just bought my ticket on the very first day.

I danced ballet as child, albeit with little success. Despite this, my passion for ballet and dance has carried into adulthood. I still love to watch ballet performances and would love to share my passion with you.
